Three Bedrooms | One Bathroom | Separate W/C | Garden

This charming three-bedroom Victorian house, with private garden, is just a stone’s throw from the leafy green open spaces of Southwark Park and the Canada Water Underground station on the Jubilee Line.

Set back from street, the house has delightful London stock brick with white stucco detailing and is steeped in history. Houses 36 and 38 were awarded a blue plaque from English Heritage in recognition of the celebrated social reformer, Richard Carr Gomm (OBE), who spent time living and working here and after whom the road is named.

Entry is to a hallway, with room for storing shoes and hanging coats, leading to a living room that’s flooded with light care of an elegant bay window. The adjoining dining room has direct access to the garden via a set of attractive French doors. Bespoke cabinetry lines the length of the room providing a great opportunity for displaying books.

The white walls, clean uncluttered lines, and light-coloured Swedish Juncker’s wooden floor downstairs and upstairs offer a slight Scandi twist which is no bad thing.

To the rear you’ll find a modern kitchen with integrated appliances, space for a kitchen table, and a large pantry.

The garden is a wonderfully private oasis bordered by beds of lavender, perennial shrubs and trailing ivy. The tenancy includes an all-round year gardening service (twice a month during summer months and once a month in the winter).

Upstairs are three bright bedrooms, with the spacious main having a series of built in shelves and cabinetry. The bedroom to the rear of the property has leafy views of the gardens below while the third bedroom is currently used as an office.

In the bathroom, minimal while tiles line the walls and a large sash window adds natural light. A glass cabinet and floating unit add useful storage for all your products and bottles.

Gomm Road is next to Southwark Park with its historic bandstand, art gallery and Pavilion cafe overlooking the lake. During summer, pedalo boats can be rented and a number of outdoor events take place. Also nearby are Russian Woodland, Stave Hill ecological park and Surrey Docks Farm.

For great all-day dining, head for neighbourhood favourite Canada Water Cafe opposite the weekly farmers market. Other local spots include Leadbelly Bar & Kitchen and an exceptionally beautiful pub in The Mayflower with its seasonal menu and views of the river.

The house is seven minutes’ walk to Canada Water station for Jubilee Line trains to London Bridge, Bond Street, Canary Wharf, the O2 and Stratford, while the Overground takes you up to Shoreditch High Street, Hackney, Dalston and Whitechapel (where it connects with the Elizabeth Line).
