Moored on the historic Rotherhithe foreshore where The Mayflower set sail to America in 1620, and with superb vistas up and down the river. Because this houseboat is unique as she sits on a mooring with Ancient Mooring Rights, a new 100-year license has been created to give the next owner of Dunregan House residential mooring rights at an incredibly low rate of £5000 per annum to be paid quarterly in advance. Architecture and interior
The super-structure of Dunregan House was built by professional boatbuilders on the steel hull of a traditional Thames flat-bottomed boat which was formerly used for transporting goods. Arranged on two floors and with a mighty steel roof, Dunregan House is currently set out as two independent apartments which could be combined to make one fantastic and exceptionally large single home.

History
Dunregan House is at the heart of the history of the Thames, London and indeed the founding of America. Rotherhithe’s history is synonymous with maritime history which helped to create the wealth and industry of London and beyond. In 1620 The Mayflower set sail for American from Rotherhithe and in 1838 the famous “Fighting Temeraire” made famous in J.M.W. Turner’s painting of that name was brought to port just close to where Dunregan House is moored to be broken up after a distinguished fighting career. Grain and wood were unloaded by the multiple tons into the flat-bottomed lighters barges like Dunregan House and helped to create the wealth and consolidate the important of London as a city of trade.

In buying this unique property you are buying a section of the old Talbot Barge Yard where these flat-bottomed barge workhorses of the Industrial Revolution were built. The barge has been permanently in residence on this site for over 45 years.
In the neighbourhood

Dunregan House comes with an allocated off-road parking space adjacent to the mooring. Nearby is The Mayflower pub, the oldest put on the River Thames and now a gastro pub, The Mayflower opened in the sixteenth century and is named after the ship chartered by the pilgrims who left for America in 1620. The renowned Brunel Museum is just around the corner – testament to the ingenuity and innovation of Isambard Kingdom Brunel who built the first tunnel under the river which was opened in 1908. Transport and connections
Dunregan House is a few minutes’ walk from Rotherhithe Station which is on the Overground line connecting it to Canada Water, Surrey Quays and South London and to Shoreditch and North London in the other direction. One stop from Rotherhithe is the interchange at Canada Water which links through to London Bridge and the West End and in a northerly direction up to Stratford International.
