"We needed a lot more space and this place was perfect. It was the former sales office for the apartments when we bought here and was one huge void: all we needed to do was add bedrooms".

So, 1843 sq ft, three bedrooms, voluminous living space, chic kitchen, two bathrooms and, approximately 15 years later, it's for sale. The interior styling is stunning and a reflection of the well-travelled owners' adventures. Every corner of the apartment is beautifully finished and the rooms all wonderfully proportioned.

Victorian Heights is something of a landmark residential development in Battersea and a former school building that's lost none of its character, with the classic architectural details well preserved and the red brickwork sympathetically restored. A number of different entrance gates dotted around the lovely perimeter wall ensure you never feel crowded, while a porter ensures the smooth running of things from an office within the grounds.

Once you're through the secure gated entrance you have not one, but two parking spaces at your disposal, both in a handy spot next to the apartment's private garden from where you have a second entry point alongside the usual front door from the communal hall.

Inside, the main living space is bright and double-height with huge sash windows reflected in the opposite mirrored wall, complemented by rustic wood flooring that adds a real sense of occasion to the grandure of the room. Semi open-plan to the living space, the kitchen is stacked with the full compliment of high-end appliances, with the neutral coloured cupboards paired with granite worktops. The ground floor also hosts a double bedroom and guest loo, both of which enjoy the styling already seen in the living space.

Head upstairs to the first floor and you'll find the main bathroom and two more double bedrooms including the principle suite with an exceptional private bathroom and a huge walk-in dressing room that's a firm favourite of Mrs J: large enough to accommodate even the most avid fashionista's wardrobe.

Venturing out, Thackeray Road is the gateway to a plentiful supply of local restaurants, pubs and bars. Within a few mins on foot, Clapham Old Town is home to The Trinity restaurant - holder of a Michelin star - along with The Bobbin pub, two favourite haunts of the apartment's current owners. Bustling Queenstown Road has a neat selection of places to eat including Argentina cuisine at Santa Maria Del Sur, and Italian at Tonis Amalfi, or grab a coffee and cake at Sweet Smile Patisserie on Lavender Hill.

Also in the neighbourhood are two of London's most loved areas of public space: Battersea Park's serene and green leafiness along the Thames is a short walk, or head in the opposite direction for the sprawling open grasslands of Clapham Common.

For serious London shopping - or getting to work - you have two nearby stations, with Queenstown Road whisking you to Waterloo in around 10 mins, and Battersea Park just one stop from Victoria.
