"Time Please!"

Originally built circa late 1700's, Samuel Whitbread, founder of the brewery with his name sake, first occupied this dramatic home. There have no doubt been significant improvements over the years, not least the uses. As well as home, for many years, it acted as a military hospital and finally a school for girls, eventually closing in 1972.

Nowadays, it's a fabulous grade 2 listed scheme of just 10 super high spec apartments, that are surrounded by some of Hertfordshires greenest fields and the tranquility that goes along with it.

As with many unique property clients, when the owners started looking to buy, they weren't necessarily looking in this region. A chance viewing and they were seduced by the charm and the location. Not only is the building sat within the grounds of Essendon Country Club, the exclusive golf club next door also had huge appeal. So, decamping from suburban East London ensued and life in a huge three bedroom, split level apartment started.

The space is offered in unbelievably good condition. Every room is styled and fitted out meticulously. On the upper floor, each bedroom has a bathroom, with one of them having been transformed in to a stylish home office.

On the lower floor, the large living space with great views of the manicured grounds, dominates this level but there's still plenty of room for the kitchen/dining room, guest WC and large master suite with ample fitted wardrobes and ensuite.

Once you've swept along the driveway the main building with ornate gates open to allow access to a communal parking area, for two cars. There's also a courtyard styled garage block with a single garage for the apartment.

World renowned, Queenswood School is just 10 mins away and the other beauty of this location is that from Potters Bar station, just 15 mins away in a car, you're only 17 mins from Kings Cross. So, that first foray into Country life, needn't be quite as scary.

"Country lite", is how the owners refer to it. We think that sums up this lifestyle perfectly.
