STYLISH DESIGNER APARTMENT

A union of Scandi styling and Industrial aesthetic filters through this stylish two-bedroom apartment at The Hide, a boutique development just behind Hackney City Farm.

Artform Group, working with Manalo + White, created a design-led scheme that moves well beyond conventional development. Their approach treats architecture and interiors as a single idea, expressed through crafted materials, warm tones and soft industrial detailing. Outside, a sharp brick facade wraps around a small, gated block, giving the building a clean, modern presence on the city fringe. It is a confident piece of contemporary architecture with simple lines, honest materials and a sense of quiet precision.

Step inside and the detailing becomes more deliberate: oversized doors, exposed conduits and a raw concrete ceiling running through the generous open plan living space. Natural rubber flooring in a polished Terrazzo finish covers all 754 square feet, pairing beautifully with peach toned plaster walls that change character as the light moves.

A hand-crafted kitchen spans the back wall of the 23-foot living room with full width sliding doors which open onto a spacious all-weather balcony overlooking Haggerston Park.

DISTINCTIVE ISLINGTON PENTHOUSE

A complete rarity, this penthouse has a hidden roof terrace that spans the entire original building’s footprint and commands an almost 360-degree view across Canonbury. It is exquisitely positioned, combining history with high-quality fixtures and fittings.

Positioned on the corner of Northampton Park & St Paul’s Road, one of the most exclusive turnings in Canonbury, New Crown Apartments are curated out of the former New Crown public house, a mid-Victorian tavern that served the local community around St Paul’s Road.

You can trace its roots back to licensee records from 1851, serving the local community for the best part of 150 years. The New River Walk starts and flows directly opposite the building and is a thoroughly delightful walk alongside the waterway down to Essex Road and beyond to Angel.

Converted in 2015, the owners have retained its authenticity with complementary communal fixtures and fittings in keeping with, and reminiscent of the era, with Victorian-style hallway tiles, tall ceilings, glass atrium internal light well and a contemporary rising glass staircase.

Central to the apartment and lit up by LED floor lights, is the spiral glass staircase leading to a showstopper of a roof terrace complete with hot tub. Not overlooked, the exceptional terrace provides a charming chimneypot vista to the East of the surrounding Canonbury roofscape and nestled between the treetops are distant views of Canary Wharf and the City skyline.

Three similarly proportioned bedrooms lead off the reception space. With only six flats in the building, the communal areas are extremely well preserved. There is also internal bike storage and permit street parking is available.

A LIGHT-FILLED MEWS HOUSE

Tucked discreetly behind the gates of a quiet mews in the heart of Kew Village, Blake Mews is a highly individual home where architectural interest, natural light and an exceptional lifestyle-location come together.

Currently arranged to provide one principal bedroom, with carefully considered space for a second bedroom. Light is central to the character of the house. Throughout the day, sunlight moves across the interior in different tones and directions, adding warmth, depth, and atmosphere to the rooms. The accommodation includes two bathrooms, one of which is a beautifully appointed en-suite featuring an Oasis freestanding stone bath, creating a striking focal point and a genuine sense of boutique luxury.

One of the property’s most notable features is its terrace, a genuinely rare find in the centre of Kew Village. Enclosed and peaceful, the terrace provides an extension of the living space. The house is positioned within a secure, gated mews and private covered parking.

Whether used as a principal residence, a luxurious London base or a home suited to flexible working, Number 6 Blake Mews offers a rare balance: the privacy of a gated retreat, the charm of village life and the connectivity of one of London’s most desirable locations.

Historic Wesleyan Chapel Conversion

A pair of extraordinary buildings with origins that lay in the 12th century have been sensitively reimagined creating spacious family accommodation whilst incorporating a huge artist studio full of light and volume.

This marvellous home is a combination of two historic buildings drawn together seamlessly with the addition of a connecting lobby, creating a unique space of just over 2500 sq. ft. The house is in Kilmersdon, a conservation village in Somerset. Set on the north-eastern slopes of the Mendip Hills, between Radstock and Frome. Its history reaches back at least to the Domesday Book, though much of the village we see today took shape in the mid-19th century. The Wesleyan chapel sits behind rustic iron railings and a small country garden that catches the late afternoon sun. Although built in 1840 it displays many of the characteristics from the late Regency period style which concluded just 10 years prior.

A generous entrance hall, laid with slate and marble tiles reclaimed from a church in Bury St Edmunds, provides an impressive introduction and gives access to several rooms. To the right lies a double bedroom, presently arranged as an office and home studio. Beneath a finely crafted timber staircase, a guest WC is neatly tucked away, while the stair itself rises to one of the two gallery landings serving the twin chapels.

Beneath a traditional pantile roof lies one of the property’s most historically significant elements, believed to have originated as a barn in the 12th century, before its transformation into an intimate village chapel during the 17th century.

The ground floor is arranged entirely for family living, where beautifully patinated elm planks stretch underfoot, their warmth complemented by the rich timber joinery of a freestanding kitchen set discreetly within one corner. From the main living space, a spiral staircase descends to the lower ground floor, where two double bedrooms are served by a substantial and characterful bathroom, completing a home of remarkable architectural integrity and atmosphere.
